Walking it Off
Walking it Off
My neice is in town this weekend and she is on a mission. She says she's not going back home until someone helps her with her anxiety problem.
Anxiety is one of the worst things a mind will ever have to deal with and in her case (a young mother of a one year old), staying healthy is important. Aside from seeing her doctor for some medication, there are a few other things that I suggested for her.
Talking long walks or bike rides are very effective in calming an anxious mind. Getting physical allows your body to change it's course and your mind to concentrate on things other then what may be wrong in your life.
Deep breathing is also important. Many people with anxiety have a hard time doing deep breathing without their mind wandering off to other, anxiety inducing things. If you have this problem, you should try using a meditative instructional cd. This enables your mind to focus on the cd instead of wandering around thinking about your problems.
I hope that I am able to spend some time with my neice and help her. No one should have to spend their life with an anxiety problem.
Relaxation of the Mind and Body
Relaxation of the Mind and Body
Most of us, women in particular, have trouble letting go of the day when it's time to get a good night's sleep. Poor sleeping habits have been linked to such problems as lowered immune function, headaches and even obesity.
One of my favorite ways to combat this problem and help improve my health in general is by drinking Kava tea. Kava is a medicinal herb that aids in ridding the body of anxiety and minor aches and pains. It has a wonderful cinnamon and spice flavor that you just can't put down.
When this tea was first recommended to me by one of my vegan friends I couldn't help but be skeptical. I've tried over the counter muscle relaxers and sleeping pills over the years and I could find nothing that worked that I was comfortable taking on a continual basis. Until this. Now, I drink a cup every night and let my mind and body relax and drift away into blissful sleep.
